What Is Lucid Dreaming?
Lucid dreaming is the ability to become aware that you are awake whilst you are still within your dream. It is an experience like no other. The ability to have a lucid dream can be taught. It comes naturally to some people whilst others have to work at it. But you CAN learn how to lucid dream.
Learn How to Lucid Dream
Lucid dreaming is a skill we all have within us and it is our objective to teach you those induction techniques. On this site, you will learn how to lucid dream as often as you’d like. Some of the lucid dreaming techniques take patience and hard work, but there is no quick fix. You will usually see results quite quickly but the more advanced lucid dreaming techniques will take longer to learn.
Feel free to browse the site. The free lucid dreaming guide can be accessed from the sidebar to the left. You may skip chapters but I would advise that you work from the beginning. Each section follows on from the last. Before soon you will be Lucid Dreaming in no time!
Lucid Dreaming Guide – Introduction
“I found myself sitting by the edge of the road on a red hot summer’s day. The sun was high in the sky and I could feel the sun beating down on me. I was so hot, why was I wearing my winter coat? I looked around, some of the familiar buildings looked strange. This is so odd I thought. Suddenly an overwhelming feeling ran through my body from head to toe, a feeling of excitement mixed with anticipation. I understand what’s going on….. I’m dreaming! This is unbelievable. I am awake inside my dream.”
The paragraph above is an account of what happened to my self one night when I was a young boy, no older than ten or eleven years of age. It was many years ago, but I can remember it like it was yesterday. Although I have had many experiences which have been similar and often better than that first experience, that feeling of realization that I had become fully awake whilst still inside my dream will stay with me forever.
What happened to me that night has commonly become known as a ‘Lucid Dream’. A lucid dream can be described simply as being consciously aware whilst in the dreaming state. For many years people didn’t even believe it was possible for this to happen but thankfully it is now an accepted phenomenon.
All those years ago, I had no idea what had happened to me, just that it was great fun, and I couldn’t wait for it to happen again, which luckily it did. As I became more proficient at lucid dreaming I developed certain ideas and techniques along the way which helped me achieve my lucid dreams. Unknown to me at the time, (The Internet didn’t yet exist in its present form.) many other people were having just as much fun and using their own methods and techniques.
The aim of this lucid dreaming guide, is to bring together those different ideas so that beginners and experts alike can use this information to accelerate their progress in attaining lucid dreams without having to go through quite as much trial and error, avoiding the pitfalls and hopefully mastering the techniques that will allow them to have more full and enjoyable lucid dreams.

Half-lucid dreamer
Have beeen dreaming of many dreams recently where I can manipulate many objects in my dream and shape the dreamworld, but I am not aware of the fact that I am dreaming. Its like only my subconcious is at work with my concious common sense, but it was still fun though

I love lucid dreams so much. My first one was about 5 years ago… I was in a supermarket, and then it just came to me instantly, wait im in a dream, and i was like F**K YEAH. I then looked around me and saw a woman with her child, the child was looking at me with a WTF expression on his face…so I told him to F**K off ( dont know why) stole some food and teleported out of there. i then found myself on a main road, I said to myself.. now what should I do now…then it came to me IM GONNA BE THE FIRST ONE TO PLAY THE XBOX 360 (it was about to come out) but I got to excited and I woke up…. DAMMITTT!!!!

The internet is such a good place for us lucid dreamers. This site, among other lucid dreaming sites, and even some of the general dreaming sites; all put together we have the greatest resource. Better than hunting for books. It’s refreshing to see this, because maybe lucid dreaming will become a widely known about thing in the world.
Thanks for the site ^_^

The only thing in my memory that tips me off that I had a lucid dream was that I remembered to spin around in circles in an attempt to prolong the dream, otherwise, I do remember looking at my watch.

Last night I had a dream that I was watching little kids with several of my friends, and then I suddenly realized I was dreaming. I went around telling all my friends “Hey! Guess what? You’re not real! You’re just a part of my dream!” They didn’t believe me, and then I had a false awakening. They came and teased me, and I wondered if I had really been dreaming at all. That’s when I stopped lucid dreaming and it was just a normal dream.
Another night I dreamed I was just looking at a picture when I realized it was a dream, so I dared myself “I bet I can’t make myself wake up.” I tried and started to wake up, but I didn’t want to, so I quickly forced myself back into the dream.

I’m currently 11.
The first time i’ve ever lucid dreamed i wasn’t really suprised cause i already knew about it.
This happened unintentionally:
I was dreaming that i was in an alternative world in my home.
I made some friends there too, soon i was able to open a portal into the real world and return to my family and bring my friends from the alternative world there as well.
I was shocked when i discovered i could control my dream. I toyed around in my dream but soon got really bored so i woke myself up.
The next day i dreamt about naruto. It didn’t really turn out as i expected….. Kakkashi had a gun which was unexpected. I was partially in control so some things happened which i didn’t wan’t to happen but i didn’t really care so i kept dreaming. Until my brother woke me up. I already have plans for what i’m going to dream about next time i lucid dream. It’s hard these days cause when my brother or sister wakes up it gets noisy. I need some tips on falling asleep immediately or as quickly as possible. (Note: Most of my lucid dreams mostly happen in the morning as i sleep face up with my hand on my stomach, it’s seeming like no matter what position i just need my hand to be on my stomach to lucid dream more easily….

The most exhilarating sensation I have ever felt. I have been trying for weeks and have been asking characters in my normal dreams am I dreaming for a while, but have never achieved lucidity. Last night I was leaving a venue in my dream with my mum and was putting a black coat on. Then I ended up in my local mall. I was at the top of the escalators and floated/skidded down them. I was sat at the bottom thinking these are rubbish shoes and that was weird, I checked my hand (I have been doing this as my reality check) and found that I didn’t have the coat on. I thought what? At this point the usually crowded mall was empty. I shouted Am I dreaming?! Then I realised I must have been I stood up and thought I’m gonna fly. So I tried, and tried to quickly I think, I faded out of the dream even though I was trying so hard not to. At this point the dream was fuzzy, I then woke up with my heart pumping out of my chest like an out of body experience. I just hope I can go back there with time and practice.

This is a really cool site! I once had a lucid dream that I was with my dad in a workshop, and this big bumblebee started flying to my dad and I realized I could controll my dreams so I grabbed a fly-swatter and killed the bee just as it was about 2 sting my dad. I am eating a banna right now to increase my chances of having another lucid dream tonight!

I am just now starting to read about learning to lucid dream. I am very exited but I have one question about weird half – dreams I’ve had before. I am 16 and a couple years ago I had a strange dream where I was still awake but It was like looking into a fuzzy window where I was dreaming. I remember feeling myself lying in my bed but it was like I was thinking about walking in my dream. I have had several instances since but it is always extremely hard to keep the dream going for more than 20 – 30 seconds. In my most vivid one I was in a cafeteria chasing a lady trying to talk to her because I knew I was dreaming. After a while she turned around and attacked me and I woke up. Has anyone else had half dreams like this? I can always realize that I am dreaming but I also wake up easily and the dreams are fuzzy and fading. Anyone know what’s going on?

I have lucid dreaming almost every night. It started just randomly, i didnt even know what it was.It is difficult to maintain the knowledge that you are dreaming, so i use a trigger. As soon as i realise i am dreaming, i make myself fly. That way i don’t forget, and have the added bonus of flying every night. Its lots of fun, and so realistic sometimes i forget i cannot actually fly in real life!!Lucid dreaming is lots of fun. Its a bit like having an secret life

I had a dream just two days ago where I was back in school, which is weird because I finished. So while in that dream, I thought I was awake. I was going through a normal school day with small tragedies here and there but then at the end of the dream I looked at myself in a mirror and saw I was in my pajamas. Then, I woke up. I don’t know if that was a lucid dream or just some crazy dream I had. help?

Anyone ever had that dream where they’re at work in a conference/school exam, and all of a sudden you realise that half way through you’re completely naked from the waist down?! It’s really embarrassing because it’s so real. I’ve had this a few times, and each time I look down and realise. Nobody else has, though, weirdly. So I have to figure a way out of there without being seen!

I toss and turn and wake up all night long. I just need to rest now:( It’s been happening since i stopped smoking. Please help, I’m going crazy.

First Lucid Dream

I had my first true lucid dream last night by accident. I was in my living room and I saw things incredibly clearly- even more so than in real life. I was wondering what I was doing in the living room, seeing as I had just been in bed, and then I realized I was asleep. I jumped in the air to test it out, and sure enough, I floated up to the ceiling. Then, I figured, why stop there? So I kept going through the roof and into the sky.
Pretty soon, I was surrounded by stars. After a little while however, I was a little afraid I wouldn’t be able to get back into my body. (Now I’ve read that that doesn’t really happen, but I didn’t know at the time.) I had heard about lucid dreams before and I knew that you could go and do pretty much anything you wanted to do, so I thought the word “subconscious” and soon the sky turned murky. Suddenly, the air around me was thick with black bats flying past me. It was hard to see, but behind the millions of bats was a full, bright moon looming in the distance. Then, I started to wake up. I tried to stay in the dream but could not. Now, I suppose it was a good thing I woke up; otherwise I probably wouldn’t have remembered the dream.
I suppose my interpretation of this dream is that I have some distant goal, but everyday obstacles obscure that vision. Maybe next time I’ll realize I’m in control and get to the moon.
lucid dreaming is hard to do.

I’ve done it twice, unintentionally. However, a friend of mine had mentioned he had done it and i thought it sounded cool but impossible until it happened to me. It was a super weird dream because in it I was trying to warn others that we were all asleep and dreaming and I was trying to wake myself up by banging my head against a huge rock and then I even jumped off a sky scraper only to land on my bed…still asleep.

for some reason i used to have lucid dreams alot more when i was younger 10-16 these days i have more dreams that i am in control and do what i want without having the realisation that its a dream and feels like reality. the only part im missing at the moment is to know how to have more lucid dreams. iv developed many abilities in lucid dreams e.g. how to fly when i want, freeze objects, control people and enviroment, wake up when i want, fly into space etc. in the past few weeks iv been asking for lottery numbers and out of 3 occasions on every occasion iv been given 1 out of the 6 lottery numbers which have came true in reality still trying to improve that.only thing i want to know is how to have more lucid dreams as i believe which has many benifets. if anyone has advice or questions email me at scf0011@hotmail.com
my first lucid dream and simultaneous dream CONTROL
Thursday, 27 January 2011 02:48
Awesome
I remember once, I had a dream I was being chased by my neighbor’s father down a cobbled road hill at night. At once, the blurriness of the scenery and lack of the phyiscal FEELING of controling myself, I realized I was dreaming! And, I then figured I could change the dream, so I summoneda rocket launcher (all true, I really want to learn more of this amazing ability) and shot at the car, which for some reason, had stopped. However, I guess I lost control, because the car didn’t explode and I eventually lost control and woke up. Another dream was Harry Potter themed, where I was changing things with my wand in the courtyard, yet the things seemed to have no sense of weight, it was odd. Where does this leave me in lucid dreams and lucid dream control? (after this dream, I only had dreams where I was partially lucid, where I knew it was a dream, but I just watched it like a movie.)

One night I was thinking of my old friends and how much I miss them in my dream I was in my classroom and I started screaming “OH MY GOD ALL OF YOU ARE HERE!” and then the friend i missed the most said “relax you know it’s just a dream” I couldn’t control anything but does that count as a lucid dream?

I don’t often reply to comments because I want the community to develop and help itself but you have hit the nail on the head!
Before my first lucid dream as an adult, I used to dream that I could fly, jump buildings etc. as a 6-7-8 year old.
As an adult, I began to lucid dream spontaneously but realised that this is what had been happening as a child.
I think that the responsibilities and complications of life ‘fog’ our ability to get back to basics.
My point is that, it is within all of us.
For those who don’t ‘get it’ immediately, keep trying! When it happens for you, you will ‘get it’ and when you do, you will look at the world in a very different way.
I’ve been doing this for years and it never gets boring.
Thanks,
Andrew Strachan xx

I had my first lucid dream last night. In it I saw my future kids names on a piece of paper and I knew I was having a lucid dream because when I was waking up, I tried spinning in my dream to start dreaming again, as I remember reading about that, and it worked! Although I was only half sure I was dreaming… as I forgot just what I could do while dreaming!!! Oh well. That’s still pretty good for my first try, eh? I wrote it all down in my dream journal P.S. great site!

I just learned about lucid dreaming today, and the only time I can recall experiencing anything like it is when I was at least 10 years old. I was having trouble falling asleep, and so an image of a ballet studio appeared in my mind. From there on, I was moving without controlling myself, and I realized I must have been dreaming. I’m not sure if this is considered lucid dreaming, because I wasn’t able to control the dream most of the time. I could feel myself moving and I still remember that dream clearly, almost even more clearly than the dream I had last night.

there are so many people missing out on the dreamworld fun because they cant get in it…i will tell you how to come to the dreamworld but be aware that your subcontious mindset determines where you will be placed in the dream world but its easy to get here everynight if your focused enough…first eat your last meal for the day then take a boiling hot shower as soon as you get out the shower pat dry off then cover body in lotion and face with green tea tree oil and place damp cloth over face relax all muscles even in face then with arms either by side or crossed over chest count down from 75 while counting down gather all images and people animals in your head that you want to come with you then ignore all bodily itches sweat etc..now you will feel almost paralysed and stuck this is good dont panic next focus on sounds and smells in your head now at zero you will be in your world and your subcontious will have a personality dont be afraid it is your subcontious whatever it is it is you dont worry and talk to it ask it questions it will reveal to you the truth about whatever you want to know..remember anything is possible in dreaworld watchout for goro he is an overgrown minoboar i accedently created and hes mean but just ignore him you will see him and he usually knocks people out of dreamworld they wake up thinking he really hit them but hes not real just ignore him he has a scarry voice too lemme know whats happens stay focused guys be careful…..if your scared of clowns dont bring them to the dreamworld with you….both good and bad emotions feed off of our imaginations…c u there n u will know its me too just ask

I have only had two lucid dreams in my life so far. The first one I was in a vineyard inside, and I was being chased, and I was running around the field, and then suddenly I made the vineyard disappear. I remember doing so. The other one was last night. I can remember that I was looking at a remote and pressing a button to make the TV go on the ‘Game’ section. And I remember trippng my friend (which was pretty funny), and walking around my house, and yadda yadda yadda. I did nothing to induce this. Am I lucid dreaming?

well i couldnt wait to lucid dream too. once i had a lucid dream but strangely it wasnt the real world. It was in an anime which i watched 2 days ago and i found myself in it. Well i remember that i was in a Big building in a floor and hiding behind a Bookshelf and somebody passed me without noticing me. I didnt watched the Movie to the end so i never saw this “floor” where i had been. 1 day after this dream i watched the Movie to the end and saw this floor where i were hiding and the “bookshelf” were in the Movie as well but i didnt see it before actually so its still mysterious for me. COuld it be out-of-body experience or something like that?
yeah and sadly after this dream i never had anymore which are like 1 Month. So i cant really remember anymore any dreams i had before except this one

Its nice to know that somehow people here can understand me.Ive been a lucid dreamer ever since i came to this world.I thought at first everyone is like me so i started asking my siblings, parents, friends and they would just laugh at me so i stopped.I stopped questioning and instead i started understanding.I can do everything and anything in my dream,Its so vivid i am always in full control, i can even do slow mo,3d,blue ray and black n white.I can cast my characters and edit them anyhow i want.Ive had 3 layers of dreams~ a dream in a dream within a dream~and yes its just like the movie inception.Saying the word “lucid” until i sleep enhances lucidity of my dreams.try it for yourselves.sweet dreams everyone!.:)

Can someone please tell me why i’m always having lucid dreams? For as long as a I can remember i’ve been dreaming, aware that I am and controlling my dreams. I get really frustrated because i’m offering sex. I’m litterally going around saying “hey lets have sex” “please don’t kill me i’ll have sex with you” I know i’m doing it, i’m purposely saying it. I’ve been told it’s my suc conscience doing what me ego won’t let me do while I sleep. is that true?

If I could I’d post a long winded story but I can’t. After reading your site and all I actually have become able to lucid dream. Most recent or most reacurring is when I dream I’m in one place but change the scenary to a prarie or grass lands. My happy place
. I took the steps slow as in writing the M on my hand and looking at it consistently each day then doing so in my sleep. Now I can control them so much better so.. thanks

i experienced a very strange dream when i was about 10 and i can remember it like it was 5 mins ago i stayed in edinburgh and my dad was taking me my sister my brother and my mum to the cinema (in my dream) it was i harbour next to a cafe called katies and a couple shops my dad swerved to the side of the road and accidently went down the ramp for the boats and the car was sinking and i remember saying to myself i am dreaming why cant i wake up and i remember feeling like i couldn’t move it was horrible then the next thing my uncle acky was saving us he saved my brother and my sister then came back for me and my mum and he never went back for my dad i was crying so hard everyone was asking me whats wrong and i couldn’t speak then my dads head popped up and he was fine acting like nothing happened and i woke up crying my eyes out and went to check if every one was okay… And the funny thing is i went to edinburgh not that long ago when i started to drive and my friend said do you want to go find a cafe and get coffee and i went and i had never been here before and it was that harbour where i had my dream and the cafe was called katies was this a lucid dream or some thing else because i have been puzzled for some time and would really like some answers ? Im trying to lucid dream again, i know my dad can but i dont think he really cares. The first time i lucid dreamt was when i was about 8, i had a dream i was a character on a video game that i had played that day, when i realized i was dreaming i got scared, honestly i was terrified, i tried to wake up i tried to open my eyes but i couldnt it was a scary experience but eventually i woke up. The next lucid dream i had occured when i was probably 12, I realized i was dreaming so i started to fly i flew in to space with my cousins and we started to dodge comets it was really fun then i saw an old woman in a rocking chair, kicked her in the stomach and called her the b word. It was very fun. Im trying to lucid dream again, i really really hope i can because right now my life isnt so much fun and having lucid dreams could make it much more fun than it is. Great site by the way im sure it will help me on my journey with lucid dreaming!

I have been having lucid dreams since I was 13, I just never knew they had a name until today, a friend was sharing with me about her son having lucid dreams. She said I know this sounds crazy, but my son says he flys in his dreams. I was just listening, and then I said I have lucid dreams to! I fly all the time it is so cool I thought I was the only one that had lucid dreams. I don’t always remember my dreams, but the cool part is that in the dream if I need to escape I know that I could fly away from danger. I love it, and I’m glad I have the natural ability to have these types of dreams. Sweet

How to lucid dream

ok for those of you who want to have lucid dreams but everynight you try you dont’ have them here’s some tips. Everynight before you go to bed look at the palms of your hands and say this exact phrase, ” I am going to lucid dream, in my lucid dream i will look at the palm of my hands and know that im dreaming.” It works it takes a while. Or take vitamin B6 or 5HTP once night to increase the chances of having a lucid dream. Then do reality checks like pinching yourself, looking at yourself in a mirror ( in a lucid dream when u look at your self in the mirror you will see someone else or you will look reallly blury), jump as high as you can (in most lucid dreams you can jump as high as 20 ft. in the air if you jump) and look for anything that doesn’t look normal. like one time in my dream i saw a clock that said 13:00 P.M. here’s a link to see more http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3kJ5-ad5Mvk
Am i abnormal?

After looking into the subject of lucid dreaming for a substantial amount of time, i have found no other similar people who can control and remember their dreams with such accuracy as i can.
I have roughly 8 or 9 common starts to my dreams, but each time i can direct the dream in an alternate direction. I can also remember the dreams upon waking, which i found rather disconcerting. I once thought dreams escaped the memory upon waking.
My first, and probably my favourite, is the common ‘flying’ dream, but in these, i can fly to places i have never visited, which seriously throws me when i visit these places after the dream. I long to rejoin the dream upon waking.
The second dream i enjoy most is the bank robbery dream. I can be either the robber or the victim. Each time i dream this one, i come out on top. As the victim its especially rewarding to overcome the robber.
My other dreams that i can remember are among the following….
Sex ( unknown partners )
Alternate gender ( related to sex i think )
Extra-terrestrial travel ( meeting aliens, non sexual )
musical creation ( band member )
several other things i’d like to remain personal.
I also had a particularly disconcerting dream which was recounted to me by a girlfriend which i remember taking a part of. It involved a minor illegal act involving auto theft. How is this normal?
I do not know how this gift works, but a gift it is. It is my considered opinion that it is my dreams, and my ability to control them, which has kept me sane for so long.
I long to ‘hit the sack’ every day.
Experiment with your dreams. It can be worth the effort if you know how.
My only question is……
Can i use this gift for personal gain?
I have tried to put my dreams into a story ( novel, essay, short story ) but it always seems too outlandish to be believable.
I hope you all are able to acheive this dream state, and whats more, i hope it gets you everything you ( lol ) dream of.
I think my first ever lucid dream was at around age 6, the old falling down the stairs dream, which i learned to control to acheive flight. Am i abnormal?
i have a lucid dream everynight

im am litterally just fiding out what a lucid dream is or that u can intentionally have them , i was watching that superhero show whith the guy who thought he could see the future, i realized it is rare to have dreams where you realize it is a dream and you can control it….i do this everynight i can place things in my dream for my use like a car or people i want in them i can also fly i just jump and will myself in the direction i want to go and i can fly from here to there or from state to state it is all so vivid and real and i know its just me haveing fun with my dreams i never thought that i could enhance my abilitys or if i even need t i have theese dreams almost every single night. maybe 3 or 4 times a month i will not remember the dream or get tricked tho thinking its real usally only while im getting in trouble in the dream and im like shit let me wake upand make sure ,atleast start over…like a video game but im not into syfy or anything like …..
that how rare is it to have these dreams with such frequency without ever even really trying outside of while im sleeping

Being a great fan of anime shows and sy-fy movies, the first time I had my lucid dream I was able to do grand things, because my imagination allowed me to reproduce certain events and abilities I had seen. I guess what I want to say with this is that nothing is impossible in a lucid dream, you just have to believe you can do it. Even doubting for a single moment or amount can make you fail. After all, you’re in a dream, so why would you?
Ive had them b4 I knew what they were!

I had several dreams where I realized I was dreaming for various reasons and was able to control the dream and do what I wanted!
I “stumbled upon” a site that gave me techniques and they’ve helped.
I literally just awoke from a nap. I was hanging out with Lady GaGa and got a hunch I was dreaming. I used the technique of reading texts around me. None of them made sense and if I looked away then looked back they had changed. I knew I was dreaming. I then ran around a town doing basically whatever I wanted and it was really fun. I found that if there was a certain person I wanted to see, I had to look for them. They wouldn’t just appear. But I did eventually find them.
I was very conscious that I could do anything without any inhibition. I did struggle staying in certain situations that really excited me though. That’s one I hope to work on.
But Lucid dreams ARE REAL and the techniques do help.

I had been doing reality checks for a while, and when I was tired of trying, ’cause nothing happened, that very night i had my first 2!!! lucid dreams. The didn’t last much, ’cause I got very excited and awoke before I could try somethin really interesting. My question is: the more reality checks in waking hours the best? Like, once an hour or oftener? And, how can I lucid dream every night? Please somebody reply to my questions! Thank you!

I had a lucid dream (non-intentional) three nights ago but I woke up from excitement, and since then I have been doing research on this website. I do reality checks more than once every 10 minutes, I’m very good at remembering so that should help! But… I can’t remember my dreams! Last night I lay still when I woke up in the middle of the night and when I woke up in the morning and let the dream come to me, but my head felt empty. Any suggestions? I want to remember my lucid dream! For all I know I could have had a lucid dream last night but I don’t remember it!

Easy way to Lucid Dream

Lay down to go to sleep, this works best if you are extremely tired. Lay on your back with your arms at your side and eyes closed. STAY PERFECTLY STILL. You must stay awake. Your brain will send signals to your body to see if you are ready to sleep. These signals include getting an itch, change your body position, wanting to blink or move your eyeballs (remember your eyes should be closed). YOU MUST IGNORE ALL OF THESE IMPULSES. After about 20-30 minutes you will feel a weight on your chest, you may even hear weird noises. You are now in sleep paralasis. If you open your eyes you will begin to hallucinate (dream with your eyes open) and you will not be able to move you body. Your body is completely asleep. Now that you are aware you are dreaming, you can shut your eyes and begin to dream instantly. You will be fully aware you are dreaming and can now (with some practice) control your dreams.
Now that you are lucid dreaming there are a few tricks to:
A. Check to see if you are dreaming
B. Stay dreaming while fully aware you are dreaming
A. You can do a few things in a dream to test and see if you are dreaming.
You can flip a light switch. Flipping a light switch will never turn on a light. Most of the times it does nothing.
Another thing to do is look in a mirror. You will never see yourself.
Once you have done this, you have confirmed you are dreaming, and now have control over your dreams.
B. Once you realize you are dreaming, your mind will try to wake up.
The best method (I found) to stay asleep and dreaming is to spin in a circle (in your dream). This part of the brain will take all of the attention away from waking up and now you will be into a DEEP sleep.
A Lucid Dreamer’s Warning
Thursday, 05 August 2010 01:41
The Dreamer
I have been able to lucid dream for as long as I can remember. I remember when I was at the age normal kids would be read bedtime stories, I would go to sleep and tell my dream to myself as if it was a story. I also have never wanted to get up out of bed in the mornings; I always wanted to sleep the whole day, and when given the chance to do so, I did. I am able to control practically every aspect of my dreams; I can control when I dream, where the dream takes place, whats within my dream, who is in it with me, and when I wake up.
I have come across a few problems though that I thought you people that want to lucid dream should know about.
1: For me, Lucid dreaming is so addictive that it’s hard for me to force myself to get out of bed and do what I need to for the day. If you are like me, you can end up literally sleeping your life away because of how addicting it is.
2: If you have lucid dreams like what I have, your body doesn’t really get the rest it needs to function correctly. For me to get all the rest I need, I have to sleep around 10-12 hours a day and sometimes more.
When I was in school, I would walk from class to class (completely aware of my surroundings) “day dreaming” in a sense, but continuing where my lucid dream from the night before left off. That night I would pick up where my “day dream” left off, and continue it through the night till the next day when I was forced to get up by the alarm clock. I even at one point began to think that maybe my dream was reality, and the reality most of us know was really just a dream. I got to the point that I felt awkward participating in class and other things at school.
Practically saying: remember where reality is, and don’t let the dream world become your reality. Unless, of course, you enjoy people thinking something is terribly wrong with you, then it’s okay to sleep for long hours, and to tell people they are just a figment of your imagination. ![]()

i was born a true lucid dreamer which i am told is very rare . however in my middle thirties afterb sleeping nonstop not even a bathroom break for well over 72 hours i realzed i had to stop and have not allowed this to happen in over 20 years. to someone born with this abilitiy the dream world that is dreaming what you want when you want as long as you want is more powerful and more addictive than any drug or pratrice i became so involed as a absloute god in this world i didnot think the real world was not real and a real let down i got to the point to where my memories of dreams and real memories were hard to tell apart so i tell this story as a warning be careful what you whish for it could be more than you need

Last night I think i entered lucidity, but when I tried to do things that would normally be possible in dreams, none of them worked. I then felt like I was waking up, so I started to spin in circles in my dream (apparently that’s a good way to stay asleep) but I decided to stop and “woke up” but I only entered another dream. Any tips on how to do the impossible in dreams?
Thx!

Lucid Dreamer
What a great site. I’ve been lucid dreaming on and off for years but I’ve had little success with regular lucid dreaming. I was hoping to find something like this. Lots of good quality advice. Thanks and keep up the good work!
I guess I had a lucid nightmare.. one morning i woke up and stayed in bed.. but all of a sudden I hear a door creak and a voice similar to that of my godfather exept I couldnt understand it… I was conscious enough to say to myself my body is sleeping but my soul is awake.. I knew something was wrong… I said ” the devil is here” I then got scared aand asked for strength.. then it came to me out of nowhere I felt my upper body gaining power! I was soo creeped out that I tried to join my hands together like when you pray but the devil didnt let me. its like he gave me strength but after I went against him I lost all the power he had given me.. i couldnt move my hands into praying position. instead I held my thumb veeery tiight I WAS NOT in control.. I saw a glowing red body lean over me and start choking me.. I was scared but at the same time I thought is it real??? I had no way to tell the difference everything was EXACTLY the same before I fell into this expirience. so the devil continued to choke me i didnt hear nothing didnt see his face or nothing just felt the choking… Before I surrendered to satan I tried to call out the name of god when at that instant he applied more pressure to my neck… mind you I am weeeaak he stole all my strength, I couldnt even scratch my self if i wanted to.. so after a while he fades away and I feel my leg rising.. exept that now I am in control and I put my foot down and WOKE UP !.. no pun intended.. I dont know what to call this a lucid dream nightmare or whatever.. I honestly thought it was the devil controling my soul.. I still dont know what to think.. Can somebody let me know what this means? Was i dreaming? Is the devil calling me? Was it a spirit? Im SHOOK about this.. If anyone had an experience like this or understands this please write to me at bkjaynice@aol.com
I am 19 years old and have been attempting to lucid dream for a few years now at least. The closest I ever seem to come to a lucid dream is being aware that I am dreaming but still having no ability to control anything that is going on. Because of this I often find myself in a dream desperately trying to wake myself up but its no use. Lucid dreaming without fully mastering it can be very frustrating because night after night you have no choice but to put up with what ever your brain throws at you, almost like being a prisoner in your own mind. A weekend starts to seem like one long day because I’m fully conscience awake and fully conscience asleep.
Hey Jay, just want to tell you I’ve been lucid dreaming ever since I was a little kid. it would start with a rumbling in my ears kinda of like the sound when you yawn, then i would feel scared because I would feel a lot of pressure bearing down on me unable to move my body, and then i would just let go. When I let go I was aware that I was somewhere else in a dream floating around, like the eye of a camera, around rooms and houses and then i would start floating upwards through the ceiling up into the sky flying around feeling great joy and yet great fear because I wasn’t in control of any of this, but I was in complete awareness of my surroundings, the deep corners of thoughts, fears, doubts, the devil and god. Because sometimes I would float downwards through the earth thinking I was heading toward hell, then I would feel a lot of fear coming up in me and I would try to move a finger, a toe or something to wake myself up which usually worked. I never saw devil’s, demons , monsters or anything like that but I would hear scary noises sometimes.
As I grew older I learned to trust that I was going to be ok and that nothing bad was going to happen to me, I learned to relax into it and not fight when I felt the sounds and sensations coming on. Sometimes as I was leaving the lucid state It was like waking up, I guess I can describe it best like how at the end of a looney toons cartoon when bugs bunny or porky the pig says, ” that’s, that’s, that’s, that’s all folks” and then the circle closes around them and the screen goes to black, well that’s how it was as I was leaving the dream, the circle would close around the imagery and i would be left floating in darkness and then I would see a glowing amebic flowing spiral form that was so beautiful I thought that it was god or my deeper consciousness so I started using it as a moment to pray, give thanks, used it as an opportunity to plant seeds of affirmation of who I wanted to be as a person, more creative, giving, prosperous, loving, open minded, more confident. By this time I started testing if I could move objects, walk into houses that I would here weird noises coming out of, look into mirrors to see if I could see myself, willing myself to fly where I wanted to, and having the faith to know that god was with me and wouldn’t let me experience something I wouldn’t be able to handle.
The key for me was to learn not to be afraid because I believed that what ever I feared grew, so I challenged myself to face what was scary by going through the doors where weird noises were coming from, turned out it was a party, I looked into the mirrors and saw myself the same as I was in waking state, I later tried passing through a mirror and learned that this was a way I could wake up. The coolest part was when ever I made an statement of what I wanted to do it would happen. If I wanted to fly I would say “I want to fly” and sometimes I would sputter trying to take off but most of the time I would fly and speak “go left”or “go up” or “go down” and it would happen. If I saw something or felt something scary I would say “be gone” or in christ name be gone”, with authority and fierceness of heart and it would happen. I learned to open drawers, refrigerators, push objects off of shelves, l learned to stop and look at paintings, clothing, graphics designs to see if I could bring back new ideas, what ever I wanted. Sometimes I would end up floating in space, hyper ventilating saying, “wake up, wake up, wake up” scared I was never gona come back, there definitely were somethings I couldn’t do.
So Jay I’m in my forties now and I can’t say why you’re experiencing what your going through other then to tell you what I believe for myself and hope it gives you something to work with or to contemplate your own tools for dream travel. That’s what I call it, because I don’t know if it’s lucid dreaming or a deeper state of dreaming or astral projection but I believe it to be a gift that we possess. Everyone has something and I feel unfortunately we’re taught to fear these gifts through education, religion, parents or friends making us feel bad, weird or different. What I’ve learned about dreaming is that everything is there for you. for you to explore your deeper self. it is you, the many aspects of you, your ego. The ego wants nothing but to survive, it spits fear, doubt, hate, fear of death in many forms, because it wants to survive in your waking and dream state, especially when you’re expanding past what you know your potential to be. The ego is what I call the devil if there is one, trying to stop you by entering the cracks of where your vernerable to take hold and like a parasite to stop you from being you’re higher self. I try to look at what kind of environment I was in and who were the characters in the dream, what emotion was I feeling, what were the colors, mood of everyone and I try to understand what the symbols mean because ourselves speak to us in emotions and images. I know this is new agey but I keep my eyes open through out the day to see if the symbols show up and a lot of times they do. Which makes me realize how waking life and dream life are connected.
In my dream state when ever I’m fully aware, what ever I fear I tried to feel love for what it was and it never turned out to be what I feared. Just like in life. My best advice is if you haven’t already, look the fear in it’s eyes and learn as much as you can about it and in that way you empower yourself. When you learn to face situations in your dreams it carries over in life. Know that nothing can or will harm you. It’s all you, try to have a conversation if you can even if it’s in your mind, you are the master in training. If something put’s it’s hands around your neck, get pissed and challenge it’s authority you give it over you, use your words with emotional intention and it will be so, your environment will change or the character will change or you’ll wake up but know that nothing can hurt you, let the fear go, thats where your strength is and know who has your back and then go learn to fly.
I remember my first lucid dream. I was also about 10 and was just walking through my family farm and all of a sudden realised I was in my own dream and I just decided to fly! Was the best feeling ever! I then proceeded to conquer the world!
i would like to know how to control my dreams
I want to learn to control my dreams as a way to express myself outside the real world and to experience life in a whole new perspective.
I have all these thoughts and plans. I feel like every dream I have seems to come true or at least have some sort of advise avout what might happen in my future. I would surely appraciate it if you could give me a simple step-by-step guide to lucid dreaming.I would also like it if you could explain to me how to understand what my dreams mean. Especially the reoccuring ones.
Thanks again,
Rhylee C.
i had my first lucid dream after i saw this site. i am 12 and when i saw inception, i just had to know if it could really happen. so i did research and found out about lucid dreaming. so i tried it and it was just… amazing. i was on the sears tower at Chicago when suddenly i realized i was dreaming. i laughed. then i said out-loud “if i was in a dream, i couldn’t die, now could i” so i jumped off and i was falling and laughing. when i saw the ground come at me at 1000 miles per hour i woke up and said “darn it!”
it was better than anything!
I think one of first lucid dream was about 3 months ago. I was in a room full of lot’s of people, i think it was a office. Suddenly I couldn’t breath and as I looked around I saw everyone else was dead. I knew I was next, but I was scared. I didn’t want to die. And I was a little curious at the time if I would go into a after life or be sucked into a forever darkness. So as I got lifted into a bright white light into the ceiling I said my final goodbyes to the world and waited for darkness. But as nothing happened and the room was still white, I realized with joy I was still alive and I was dreaming. I must have gotten too exited because I woke up. I really thought I was going to die.
I’m 13 and lucid dream almost once a week (very often). Most of the time i have a lucid dream something bad is happening Eg/ In school naked or being chased by someone. However as soon as i realize i’m dreaming i do what i want I can’t normally change the world or area but i can make people i want appear and do what i want. The most recent lucid dream i had i was in school and hadn’t brought anything with me as soon as i realized i was dreaming i started attacking my teacher and woke up. I know weird. I’m not sure how or why my brain becomes contsus i’m dreaming but its very cool and i hope my weird dreams don’t stop.
